VBM (Vibiemme S.r.l.) is an espresso machine maker from Milan, founded according to its official history page on 12 January 1976 by Carlo Ernesto Valente at its original site on Via Mauro Macchi in Milan; the company is now based in Cinisello Balsamo, on the edge of the city. In the early years VBM's technicians built machines around the VBM 1961 brew group, which the company describes as an evolution of the model of the same name with greater thermal stability, and towards the end of the 1970s came the Domobar, which VBM presents as the first home espresso machine in history.
In 1985 Pietro Osnato joined as a partner and the workshop grew into a commercial business, producing the Dosatronic models, the first electronic Replica and a relaunched Domobar Super; in the 2000s its distributor network reached Northern Europe, Spain and Portugal. For its fortieth anniversary in 2016 it launched the Tecnique line, whose TS System uses two independent circuits; in 2019 VBM showed a restyled Domobar line at HostMilano under the tagline «We make it simple», and in 2023, again at HostMilano, the Black Moon, described as its first fully bodied espresso machine, the Tecnique HX and Bulloneasy, a system that according to the manufacturer lets a technician clear limescale blockages in the boiler pipes in under twenty minutes without moving the machine off the counter.
The current catalogue is split into two lines. The home line is built around the Domobar in three models (Domobar, Domobar Junior and Domobar Super), all fitted with the VBM 1961 group; the professional line comprises the Lollo, Black Moon, Audrey, the Replica Manuale HX, Replica Pistone and Replica Elettronica, and the Tecnique HX and 2B. The site does not publish a browsable spare parts catalogue, so CoffeeSpecs makes no claim about parts availability.
