AeroPress

AeroPress, Inc. makes the eponymous manual immersion-and-pressure coffee maker invented by engineer Alan Adler. The official "About AeroPress, Inc. and Alan Adler" page says Adler founded the company in 1984 as Superflight, Inc. to make and sell his Aerobie flying ring, and renamed it Aerobie, Inc. in 2005 "after recognizing that millions of people knew the company by its Aerobie brand". The renaming therefore came in the same year the AeroPress was introduced, and the same page still calls the company Aerobie, Inc. in 2009, around the time of the second World AeroPress Championship. What the site does not say is when the company took its current name, AeroPress, Inc., which is the name it goes by in the timeline entry for the 2021 acquisition. The Aerobie brand now belongs to Spin Master Ltd.

Adler started work on the coffee maker in 2003 in his garage in Palo Alto, California, spending months studying the variables that affect the taste of brewed coffee; two years and more than 30 prototypes later he unveiled it at Coffee Fest Seattle in November 2005. In summer 2021 AeroPress, Inc. was acquired by Tiny Ltd., which has since invested in new product development; according to the site's privacy policy, the company is based in Palo Alto.

On its own site the company sells filters and replacement components directly for the whole AeroPress range, and every year backs the World AeroPress Championship, a fan-run competition started in 2008 in Oslo that now runs in over 60 countries.
