AeroPress Original

The AeroPress Original is the model that started the immersion-with-air-pressure category back in 2005. The chamber is polypropylene, with stated dimensions of 5.25 inches in height by 4.2 inches in width and a declared capacity of 10 oz, which the manufacturer rates for 1-2 cups. The box includes AeroPress Paper Micro-Filters, a stirrer, and a scoop for ground coffee.

AeroPress describes the process as '3 in 1 Flavor Tech': fast immersion, air pressure, and micro-filtration through the paper filter, with a full brew declared at around two minutes. Day-to-day cleaning only needs a rinse, since the plunger wipes the chamber clean as it presses; the manufacturer still lists the model as dishwasher safe, but top rack only.

It is a manual brewer with no electrical parts and no adjustments beyond coffee dose and steep time: the manufacturer places it in the 'Home or Office' tier of its own product comparison. On the same site AeroPress also sells Go (a travel-sized format), Clear (a colored Tritan chamber) and Premium (glass and steel), which change materials, capacity or format while leaving the Original's mechanism untouched.
