Bodum

Bodum is a housewares manufacturer whose official history page describes it as having started «in Copenhagen, Denmark» in 1944, when Peter Bodum founded the company just after World War II on the principle that form should follow function. Its first coffee product, the SANTOS vacuum coffee maker, arrived in 1958 and remained one of the most popular through the 1970s; in 1974 Jørgen Bodum, the founder's son, took over as CEO at age 26 and introduced the brand's first French press, the BISTRO.

In 1978 the company's home office was relocated to Switzerland, where it is headquartered today according to the same page; in 1980 the in-house design unit Pi-Design AG was established and still develops every Bodum product. The company describes itself as distributed in more than 55 countries and remains family-owned, today led by Jørgen Bodum.

Alongside French presses, the catalogue includes kettles, teapots, electric grinders and glassware; the company sells an official spare-parts catalogue directly on its site - replacement beakers and components - covering most of the range.
