Bodum Bean Set

Bean Set is Bodum's cold-brew jug based on the French press system, with a 1.5-liter (12 cup) capacity and a second fridge lid included in the set in place of the plunger lid. The body is stainless steel, rubber and silicone, with a BPA-free plastic carafe.

The dose of coarse ground coffee is doubled compared to usual: pour it into the carafe together with cold water, stirring with the included plastic spoon, since metal risks scratching or cracking the container. Close it with the fridge lid — meant to keep the brew cold and prevent spills while it's moved around — and let it rest for 12 to 24 hours. Afterwards the lid gives way to the plunger lid: locked in place, press down to filter, and if it goes down reluctantly, pull it out, stir the coffee and try again unhurried.

Hand-washing in warm, soapy water is worth doing before first use; after that, the lid, filter assembly and plunger come apart and get washed separately in the dishwasher after each use. It's a jug for brewing cold brew for several people, or for several days at once, in exchange for a long steep.
