BRITA

BRITA is a German company based in Taunusstein, near Wiesbaden. According to its official group-history page, "BRITA's history began in 1966 when company founder Heinz Hankammer had the great idea of optimising mains water in a convenient and simple way": the first filters were made by hand in the family garden, before the first mass-produced product arrived in 1967 and the first patented household filter followed in 1970. The group, now led by the Hankammer family, states it operates in 69 countries across five continents.

Alongside its household filter jugs, which fall outside this catalogue's scope, BRITA offers a line of professional HoReCa filters aimed specifically at coffee machines: the Purity C series (including Purity C Finest, designed for espresso, and the Purity C iQ system, described as continuously monitoring water properties). The company states benefits including reduced limescale on group heads, equipment protection and more consistent results in the cup.
