La Marzocco was founded in 1927 in Florence, when brothers Giuseppe and Bruno Bambi established Officine Fratelli Bambi and built their first machine, named La Marzocco after the lion that is Florence's symbol. In 1939 Giuseppe Bambi patented the horizontal boiler, the first of its kind, which made it possible to fit more groups on a machine and made it more ergonomic — an innovation that shaped professional machine design for decades. In 1995 the company brought in new American partners, starting a restructuring phase and a period of international growth. Today La Marzocco makes commercial espresso machines (Linea, Strada, GB5, KB90, the lever-operated Leva) and home machines (GS3, Linea Mini, Linea Micra), along with grinders and accessories such as Modbar and PUQpress. Production, historically based in Florence, moved in 2009 to Scarperia, about 30 km north of the city.

Warranty: Terms vary by model: the GS3, Leva-X and Strada-X carry a 13-month parts-and-labor warranty; the Linea Mini 24 months; the Linea Micra 12 months. Coverage excludes normal-wear parts (gaskets, filters, o-rings, plastic tanks) and damage from non-compliant water quality, scale buildup, use outside the country of purchase, or tampering with the serial number. Labor coverage is voided if the machine is used commercially, since these models are designed for home use.
