Bialetti induction moka pots: which to choose between Fiammetta, Octagonal and Brikka

Our catalogue has eleven Bialetti moka pots, and three have "Induction" in the name. Here is what they cost at list price and which one makes sense, depending on how much you want to spend.

Bialetti induction moka pots: which to choose between Fiammetta, Octagonal and Brikka

If you have an induction hob and want to stick with a moka pot, the right question isn't "which is the best" but how much you want to spend and what kind of object you want on the hob. In the CoffeeSpecs catalogue there are eleven moka pots, all Bialetti. The entries are based on the manufacturer's official data and the list prices we have recorded: they are not our own tests, and what you read here does not come from coffee we have tasted ourselves.

The moka pots with "Induction" in the name

There are three, and these are the list prices in the catalogue:

  • Bialetti Fiammetta Induction: €62.90.
  • Bialetti Brikka Induction: €69.90.
  • Bialetti Moka Octagonal Induction: €70.00.

Between the Brikka Induction and the Octagonal Induction there are ten cents: price won't help you choose, the model matters. The Fiammetta costs €7.00 less than the Brikka and €7.10 less than the Octagonal: it is the lowest of the three, so the obvious choice if you want an induction moka pot and have no preference on shape.

The Octagonal Induction has the octagonal shape in its name: it makes sense if the moka pot stays on show on the hob and you care about it as an object too.

The Brikka Induction is for those who already know the Brikka and want the same model for induction. In the catalogue you will also find the Bialetti Brikka at €49.90: the base version costs €20 less than the induction version. For anyone starting from scratch on an induction hob there is no strong reason to pay ten euros more for the Brikka Induction than for the Fiammetta.

The moka pot named "Elettrika"

The Bialetti Moka Elettrika costs €53.90, less than all three induction versions. From the name you can tell it is designed to work electrically, but the entry doesn't give us the power details: check the official page before buying. At first glance its advantage is the lowest price in the group.

And if the classic moka pot is fine

The Bialetti Moka Express is the 1933 model and costs €39.90 at list price, with an estimated range of €18 to €40. It doesn't have "Induction" in the name, and our entry has no induction compatibility data: we are not telling you it works. Before buying it for an induction hob, check the product's official page; if you can't find it, pick one of the three versions with "Induction" in the name.

The same goes for the other moka pots in the catalogue: the Bialetti Venus at €39.90, the Bialetti Dama at €34.90 and the Bialetti Mokina at €24.90. They are the cheapest, but induction compatibility is not recorded.

How much to spend

We have estimated three ranges for moka pots: €18 to €40, €40 to €90 and €90 to €200. The three induction versions, the Moka Elettrika, the Brikka and the Musa (€72.90) sit in the middle range. The Bialetti Moka Timer, at €129.90, is the only one in the top range: the name suggests a timed function, but we don't have the detail in the entry.

A rule of thumb, without beating around the bush:

  • Induction hob and a tight budget: the Fiammetta Induction.
  • Looks matter to you too: the Octagonal Induction.
  • You already have a Brikka and want the same one for the induction hob: the Brikka Induction.
  • You want to spend as little as possible among the non-classic moka pots: look at the Moka Elettrika, after reading on the official page how it works.

What to check before paying

Look at three things on the official page: that the model states induction compatibility, how many cups the size you are about to buy makes, and the current price, because the ones we quote are list prices and they change.

For each model you will find the entry in the CoffeeSpecs catalogue, Moka category, with the link to the manufacturer's site. Start there and check the price at the time of purchase.
