Bezzera is owned by G. Bezzera Srl, based in Rosate in the province of Milan, and builds commercial and semi-professional espresso machines. The company dates its history from 1901, when Luigi Bezzera filed a patent that the site connects to the portafilter system still used on espresso machines today; it marked its 125th anniversary in 2026. According to the official timeline, the first machine, known as the giant type with double tap, was followed by series production with boilers ranging from 20 to 50 litres, and in 1906 a Bezzera espresso machine was shown at the Milan International Fair.
After Luigi, leadership passed to Giuseppe Bezzera in 1922, to his wife Rosita Cardano Bezzera in 1951, to Guido Bezzera in 1961 - aged 19, he was the one who opened up sales abroad, starting with Iran and Portugal - and in 2001 to Luca Bezzera, the fourth generation, as managing director. In 1965 the company left Milan for Trezzano sul Naviglio, and in 1995 it moved to Rosate, into a 6,000 m² building. In 2001 it launched its semi-professional machines, compact models with commercial components meant for the home; in 2017 production space grew to 10,000 m² and the sole proprietorship became a limited company (Srl).
The site states that the whole production process takes place in-house: design, laser cutting, bending, turning, welding, assembly, testing and finishing. Copper boilers, metal frames, pipework and brass components are made on site, across four buildings with 95 employees, and exports reach around 50 countries through a dealer network. The catalogue is split into Ho.Re.Ca., specialty, semi-professional, home machines, grinders and accessories, covering lever, dual boiler, heat exchanger and PID-controlled models. Spare parts and manuals sit in a restricted-access area of the site.
