Cremina SL is a single-group machine from Olympia Express, replacing the purely manual lever pull with a compression spring in the brew group.
The stainless steel electric boiler is filled by hand through the top, and needs topping up once it runs dry: capacity is 1.8 litres, good for about twenty cups before a refill. The brew group and portafilter are chromed, polished brass; the steam wand and its nozzle are chrome steel, which makes them easier to clean.
The machine's top surface warms cups resting on it, and the drip tray with its grate lifts out easily for cleaning. The footprint grows considerably once the lever is fully raised: leave room above and behind the machine. It is for anyone who wants an entirely mechanical extraction, with the spring doing the work of pressure.
