Alex Leva is Izzo's spring-lever machine, with a dedicated group, scaled down to a kitchen footprint. Pre-infusion is manual, built into the pull of the lever itself: there is no pump generating it, and none is fitted as standard, electric or otherwise. An external-pump version exists only as an accessory on request. The boiler is a single 5-litre copper unit, with thermal insulation for energy saving, and an electronic PID regulates its temperature; a gauge tracks boiler pressure.
Steam and hot water come from rotary or joystick taps depending on the trim, with a wand insulated against scalding. A steam-heated cup warmer sits above the group, and a second shelf is included as standard. Under the group there is room for a cup up to 7 cm tall: taller mugs will not fit. Standard equipment includes two portafilters, a 53 mm tamper, a cleaning cloth, a brush and a kit for the steam wands.
At rest the machine is compact, but with the lever fully raised the clearance needed above it grows considerably: leave room overhead. It is a semi-professional unit also suited to home use, for anyone after the bar-style lever gesture without an actual bar machine.
