Izzo

Izzo is the brand of Gruppo Izzo S.r.l., which the company's official page traces back to 1979 in Boscoreale, near Naples, when Vincenzo Izzo founded a small artisan roastery to make Neapolitan espresso. The timeline published by the group places its first international trade fairs in 1993 and its first traditional espresso machines, automatic and semi-automatic, in 1994; the Capri, trimmed in cherrywood and gold, followed in 1995, and lever machines have been built since 1997. In 2014 the company opened a new factory in Anagni, in the province of Frosinone, which is its operational headquarters today.

The group works on two fronts. One is coffee: whole-bean blends, ground coffee, pods and capsules, also produced for third parties under private label. The other is professional machines for bars, which Izzo states are built from materials and components made entirely in Italy and put through a functional test before packing. Its lever machines come with 1 to 6 groups, electronic PID temperature control, steam-heated cup warmers and anti-scald stainless steel water and steam wands; the automatics come with 2 to 4 groups, and the semi-automatics are toggle- or button-operated. At Sigep 2024 the company presented Flush&Push, a patented revision of its lever group meant to shorten the time between shots and reduce barista fatigue during long, busy sessions.

Since 2021 Izzo has brought the same approach into the home with the Espresso Family line, professional machines designed for domestic use. The founding model is the Alex, in three versions - Leva, Duetto and PID - joined by the compact Vivi, in PID and Flat versions, and the Valexia, likewise available as Leva, Duetto and PID. Among the choices the company highlights for this range are insulated boilers to limit heat loss. The company page also mentions the Izzo Academy, a training centre for extraction techniques founded in 2006, and the first franchised Izzo bar, opened in 2000.
