This is the automatic tamper that mounts directly onto the body of the Mythos and Mythos II grinders by Victoria Arduino and Nuova Simonelli, instead of sitting beside the grinder as a separate unit: it reclaims the counter space a stand-alone tamper would need. An optional adapter plate makes it compatible with other grinders too, for anyone who wants to keep it when switching grinders.

The tamping diameter covers 53, 54 and 58 mm, and it works with single- or double-spout portafilters as well as naked ones. Just slide the portafilter under the head: pressure is adjustable from 5 to 30 kg in 1 kg steps, across five profiles that vary both the force and the speed of the tamp, with a wheel for manual adjustment. There is no quick profile-switching control, and no mirror tray under the head.

It is built for mid-to-high volumes and up, above 10 kg of coffee per week: suited to a busy bar, less to home use or to someone running a single grinder occasionally. The warranty is 2 years, with no cap on the number of tamps.
