969.Coffee

969.coffee is the brand under which Mariano Matiz has been building espresso machines since late 2014. Its official history page says the name honours the year his wife Silvana was born, and that before launching it Matiz had worked from the early 2000s in sales for C.S., a coffee machine company the same page names as owner of the «Fiorenzato» brand, where he reorganised the European sales and service network, and then from 2013 as a freelance agent for two other Italian brands. The stated aim is to supply «everything from a single hand»: machines made in-house plus complementary products such as grinders and accessories sold wholesale, so that client businesses abroad have a single point of contact.

The company describes itself as a group of two firms spread across three sites: the group headquarters and administration for non-EU countries in Switzerland (969.coffee AG, in Emmenbrücke according to the legal notice on elba.coffee), administration for EU countries in Eisingen, Germany, and the factory and offices in Sesto al Reghena (PN), Italy, set up in an old house in Friuli bought in 2018 and gradually renovated. The team it declares numbers seven people. According to the 969.coffee company page, distribution covers mainly Europe, with Germany, Switzerland and Austria listed as exclusive, and also reaches Africa and Asia.

The home range is called Elba. The project began in 2015 with a single version shown at HOST Milan in October of that year, followed by the Elba1, Elba2 and Elba3; the Elba Mini came out at the end of 2018 and the Elba Gentile in autumn 2023. The current series (Elba Gentile, ElbaV PID, ElbaV EVO and Elba Mini) has its own site, elba.coffee, signed by 969.coffee, which describes the machines as handmade in Italy and lets every model be ordered online through a configurator, with options chosen machine by machine. The 969.coffee site remains the home of the company and its professional range: the Zeta, Aurora Multiboiler, Luna, Novecento and Globus machines, and the On Demand grinders, including the 969-58 Casa, 969-64 Bar and 969-83 Superbar.
