Comandante

Comandante grew out of the Braune family, who founded the specialty coffee roastery Supremo just outside Munich in 2005. Faced with a gap in the market for travel-friendly professional grinders (existing electric grinders being too big, heavy and expensive), Bernd Braune and his son Raphael developed the first portable hand-grinder prototypes in the roastery's garage; production of the C40 and C20 models began in 2013. Today the grinders and their burrs are designed and assembled by an international team of craftspeople just outside Munich, Germany, using a proprietary high-nitrogen steel alloy built for long service life. The company sells official spare parts for its whole range directly from its own site (springs, axles, knobs, burrs, seals and accessories).

Warranty: Comandante does not publish a fixed warranty term: the official FAQ page states that the grinders are built to last and that, if something goes wrong, the company or local dealer will step in to repair or replace what is needed, without stating a specific contractual duration.
