The C40 MK4 is the manual grinder that made Comandante known outside Germany: on its own site the manufacturer describes it as built around the Nitro Blade burr, presented as "the world's first heptagonal conical burr developed specifically for specialty coffee". The burr is stated to be made from proprietary Nitro Rex steel, a high-chromium alloy (over 17%) with vanadium and molybdenum, described by the manufacturer for its hardness and edge retention over time.
Adjustment works through a stepped dial: the manufacturer's own FAQ describes "click zero" as the first point where the handle stops falling freely as the burrs are gradually closed, i.e. a system of fixed positions rather than continuous adjustment. Each bean container has a stated capacity of 40 grams; the body is assembled in Germany.
On the official pages consulted, neither the burr diameter in millimetres nor the total weight of the grinder is given: two figures that circulate in third-party reviews but that the manufacturer does not state outright, so they are left out of this listing.
