De'Longhi
De'Longhi is the brand behind the De'Longhi Group, which its own history page describes as an Italian company; the group website is owned by De'Longhi Appliances S.r.l., based in Treviso. According to that page, the first product to carry the De'Longhi name dates from 1974: an oil-filled radiator designed for households facing the first oil crisis. Fan heaters and catalytic heaters followed, then the first foreign subsidiary, opened in New York in 1985, and the Pinguino portable air conditioner in 1986. The brand page gives the same starting point - De'Longhi was born in 1974 as a brand of electric radiators - before expanding into the kitchen, comfort and home cleaning.
Coffee came in 1993, with a pump espresso machine. In 1995 the group patented IFD (Instant Froth Dispenser), which it describes as the first step towards automatic cappuccino; the first bean-to-cup machine, the Magnifica, followed in 2003, and by 2007 De'Longhi says it had become market leader in that segment. A 2004 agreement with Nespresso took the brand into capsule machines as well, leading to the Lattissima in 2007, built in the group's own plants. Today the brand page calls coffee machines the heart of the brand, in a range that runs from bean-to-cup models to manual machines.
The group's listing on the Milan stock exchange was announced in 2001, the same year it completed the acquisition of Kenwood and, with it, Ariete; a perpetual licence for the Braun brand in small household appliances followed in 2012, and Nutribullet in 2020 through the acquisition of Capital Brands. The group entered professional coffee in 2017 by taking a 40% stake in the Swiss company Eversys, with an option on the remaining 60%, and acquired La Marzocco in 2024. Its profile page states that products are sold in more than 120 markets, with 7 research and development centres and 9 manufacturing plants; the history page names the Chinese factories in Zhongshan and Dongguan among them.
