Chemex Handblown Series 8-Cup

The Chemex Handblown Series 8-Cup is the hand-blown version of the borosilicate glass funnel brewer: the manufacturer states each piece is handcrafted in small batches by skilled glassblowers in Croatia, calling every coffeemaker 'one of a kind', with possible slight variations between pieces due to the handmade process. Declared capacity is 40 ounces, with a height of 9 5/8 inches and a diameter of 6 inches; the item code is CM-3.

As with the Classic Series, the body is finished with a polished wood collar and bead with a leather tie, and it uses the same proprietary Chemex Bonded filter (codes FP-1, FC-100, FS-100, FSU-100), opened into a cone and resting directly in the neck of the glass with no separate dripper.

The manufacturer states the glass body is dishwasher safe, but only once the collar and leather tie are removed, as those must be hand washed. Compared with the Classic Series, the stated difference is limited to how the glass itself is made (hand-blown rather than machine-pressed), not the brewing capacity or filter type.
