Typica
The variety with which the worldwide spread of arabica began. Low yield and no defence against disease have made it marginal in volume, not in history. In Mexico it is called Criolla.

How it grows
Bourbon-Typica group; also known as Criolla, Indio, Blue Mountain. From south-western Ethiopia to Yemen between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, then to Java between 1696 and 1699: it was there that it became a distinct variety, and from there that it left for Amsterdam, Paris, the Caribbean and the Americas.
