Decent Espresso is an espresso machine maker founded in 2015 as a Kickstarter project by John Buckman (founder/CTO) and Harriet "Bugs" Harpley (founder/CEO), with coffee-quality input from consultant Scott Rao. The company operates out of Hong Kong, Brisbane and Seattle; DE1 machines are assembled in factories in Hong Kong and mainland China, where mechanical engineers, circuit-testing technicians and hand-assembly teams take each unit through final quality control before international shipping. The DE1+ launched in 2017; by 2025, ten years after founding, the company had shipped over 10,000 machines in total.

Warranty: Every DE1 includes a standard 2-year warranty covering parts, labor and shipping (including any duties/taxes) to and from the repair facility, valid for a list of roughly 60 countries. 2-year warranty extensions can be purchased, renewable indefinitely and transferable to a new owner, even on used or already out-of-warranty machines. Out-of-warranty repairs carry a flat fee; the warranty does not cover damage from misuse or negligence.
