ECM Espresso Coffee Machines was founded in 1996 in Heidelberg, Germany, by Wolfgang Hauck. The company grew out of the earlier Elektroland appliance shop and the Gaggia distribution business (Form & Funktion) into direct manufacturing of espresso machines for the upscale home and office market.
Since 2007 all ECM machines have been made at the company's own production facility in Milan, while design and development remain based in Germany. It is a family-run business, today led by second-generation managing director Michael Hauck, alongside his father Wolfgang since 2009. ECM is the sister company of Profitec, sharing the motto "Make Coffee Yours".
Spare parts are distributed exclusively through ECM's network of authorised dealers.
