The Puristika is a single-boiler machine: the same boiler heats both the coffee water and the steam, so the two jobs happen one after another rather than at once. A PID keeps the temperature steady, and an externally adjustable expansion valve lets you also act on pump pressure, shown in real time on a dedicated front-panel gauge.
The brew group is ECM's own design, derived from the E61, with a stainless steel brewing bell. The water tank sits outside the machine, in glass, and can be placed anywhere on the counter; it holds around 2 litres. The Puristika is ready to brew in 11 minutes, with a fast heat-up mode you can switch on from the display; a shot counter, an ECO mode and a group-cleaning reminder round out the software.
In the box are a two-spout portafilter, single and double baskets, a blind filter basket, a tamper and a carry case built for taking the machine along. It's a single-boiler machine for anyone happy with the essentials: making one espresso at a time, without needing to steam milk the moment the coffee is done.
