Bialetti Dama

Dama is a Bialetti moka pot in aluminium, with a thermoplastic handle and knob. The lid is vented: the holes let you watch the coffee as it rises and stop condensation from forming in the upper chamber, so the lid does not fog up. It comes in two sizes, for one and for three cups.

It brews by filling the boiler with cold water up to the safety valve, fitting the funnel with moka-ground coffee without pressing it down, then closing the pot and placing it on the hob over medium heat until the coffee starts to gurgle as it rises into the upper chamber, at which point the heat is turned off. It is rinsed with water only, no detergent, and never goes in the dishwasher. Induction needs Bialetti's separately sold adapter. It suits someone brewing for one or a few people who wants to watch the coffee rise through the vented lid; anyone with an induction hob will need to add the adapter.
