Bialetti Moka Express

Moka Express is a Bialetti coffee maker in aluminium, with a thermoplastic handle and knob and an 'easy-clean' safety valve designed to be cleaned without removing the boiler. It comes in eight sizes, from one to eighteen cups, covering both a single serving and coffee for several people.

It brews by filling the boiler with cold water up to the safety valve, fitting the funnel with moka-ground coffee without pressing it down, then closing the pot and placing it on the hob; the water must not go past the valve. Once the coffee starts to gurgle as it rises into the upper chamber, the heat is turned off. It works on gas and electric hobs; induction needs Bialetti's separately sold adapter. It is rinsed with water only, no detergent, and never goes in the dishwasher. It suits someone who wants the classic aluminium pot and a choice of sizes, from a single serving to a full household; anyone with only induction will need to add the adapter.
