Kees van der Westen Spiritello

The Spiritello is a single-group lever machine built around a spring-loaded group: as on classic lever machines, extraction runs through a central lever that compresses a spring, with the pressure shown in real time on a gauge wired to the group. The manufacturer describes a low-pressure pump (1.5-4 bar, adjustable via a dedicated knob) that runs the pre-infusion phase before the lever is released and the spring pushes water through the coffee at extraction pressure.

The coffee boiler is a single piece in 316L stainless steel holding 0.8 litres, integrated into the group and heated by a 450 W element; the separate steam boiler holds 3.5 litres, heated by two 900 W elements. Unlike the same manufacturer's Speedster, the Spiritello also carries an internal 3.5-litre water tank, so it does not necessarily require a fixed mains water connection. All welds are made inside and out to avoid corrosion-prone crevices; the lever piston uses PEEK discs for sealing.

Stated power is 220-240 V single phase, 50/60 Hz, with peak draw ranging from 2290 W at 220 V to 2720 W at 240 V depending on mains voltage; the internal pump is a rotary unit with a 180 W motor. Stated weight is 45 kg without water. The manufacturer does not publish the portafilter diameter or a heat-up time.
