BWT bestmax M

BWT bestmax M is the filter cartridge the manufacturer describes as a universal water-optimisation solution for the HORECA sector, with explicit application to coffee and espresso machines, vending machines, ovens and combi steamers. The filter system consists of a five-stage cartridge (particle pre-filter, activated carbon pre-filter with silver, high-performance ion exchanger, activated carbon with silver, fine particle filter) screwed onto a BWT besthead filter head with a bypass setting from 0 to 3 depending on water hardness.

The stated capacity for size M, under the "hot beverage preparation with steam generation" use case (i.e. espresso machines with a steam boiler), at a temporary hardness of 10 °f and bypass set to 3, is 3,800 litres; the manufacturer notes that capacities may deviate by up to ±5% depending on local water quality and flow rate. Stated operating conditions are 2-8 bar input pressure, 4-30 °C water temperature and 4-40 °C ambient temperature.

Stated dimensions for size M are a total height without bracket of 485 mm and a connection height of 424 mm, with a weight of 2.4 kg dry and 4.2 kg wet; the cartridge diameter is 130 mm. The manufacturer recommends replacing the cartridge every 6 months, or at the latest every 12 months, or once the stated filter capacity is reached.
