The Vario W+ is a weight-based grinder with 54 mm steel flat burrs, built to cover a wide range of brew methods thanks to a built-in scale accurate to a tenth of a gram. The operations manual gives starting points for espresso, AeroPress, Hario V60, automatic drippers, Chemex and French press, signalling a broad stated range.
Adjustment uses two levers, a macro one (10 settings) and a micro one (22 settings per macro step), for 220 combinations in total. Three buttons let you program different dosing weights, adjustable with an offset to compensate for systematic bias. The 300 g hopper can be removed with beans still inside thanks to a shut-off valve, for changing beans without waste.
The manufacturer's data sheet states two power standards, 100-120 VAC 50/60 Hz and 220-240 VAC 50/60 Hz (class I), both at 130 W. Dimensions are 13 x 18 x 37 cm (width x depth x height) for a weight of 4.1 kg. The manufacturer lists design in Seattle, assembly in Taiwan and burrs made by Etzinger in Liechtenstein, backed by a one-year warranty. Grounds retention is described only in qualitative terms, with no gram figure, and the exact burr alloy is not specified beyond "steel".
