Data from official source

The Duo is a single-dose grinder built around two interchangeable sets of 83 mm flat burrs, one tuned for espresso and one for filter methods, sold separately or together. The manufacturer presents it as the direct successor to the Zero, sharing the same aluminium body and real oak trim, but aimed at people who want to optimise grinding for two distinct uses without recalibrating a single burr set every time.

Grind adjustment runs on a continuous, click-free knob (an "infinite stepless dial"), with no numbered steps, which the manufacturer describes as offering precise control over particle size. Stated dimensions are 135x230x355 mm (width x depth x height), rising to 480 mm tall with the lid upright; weight is 5 kg. The tech-spec page lists a grind speed of 1 gram per second and 72 dB of noise while grinding. The UK version uses a G-type plug at 220-240V/50-60Hz; separate US, EU and AUS variants exist at their own local voltages.

The manufacturer uses two different phrasings for the same idea: a bullet point states "Zero retention", while the longer descriptive copy says "virtually no grind is retained" - a residual that is practically, but not literally, nil. Burr material, motor speed in RPM, and hopper capacity in grams are all left unstated, and remain absent from the official spec sheet on the Niche Coffee site.

02 · Summary

Pros and cons

In favour

  • Two dedicated 83 mm flat burr sets, one for espresso and one for filter
  • Stepless dial for fine control over particle size
  • Same aluminium body and oak trim as the Zero, in a slightly larger footprint source
  • Light 5 kg weight despite the dual burr-set design source

Worth knowing

  • Burr material and motor speed not disclosed by the manufacturer
  • Hopper capacity not specified in grams
  • The "zero retention" claim sits alongside descriptive copy that hedges to a residual that is only "virtually" nil
