Eureka Mignon Silenzio 55

Mignon Silenzio 55 is the larger-burr version of the Silent family: 55 mm hardened-steel burrs rated for 300 kg of coffee, with a more powerful motor built for faster grinding without losing consistency. It's still a doserless grinder, with the adjustable fork starting the grind via microswitch as soon as the portafilter is hooked on.
Adjustment stays stepless and micrometric, working by repositioning the lower burr: grind size can move by the smallest amount without losing the setting when the burr set comes apart for cleaning. The touch display programs two doses plus a continuous mode, or switches to manual with a timer for anyone who'd rather control the grinding time directly; an anti-clump, anti-static system controls how the grounds fall, and Silent Technology cuts grinding noise compared to a conventional grinder.
The hopper holds 300 g of beans, the same capacity as the Perfetto but with larger burrs under the hood: same body, same interface, more material in contact with the coffee on every turn. It's for anyone who wants to stay in the Silent range but with 55 mm burrs for higher output; anyone happy with 50 mm burrs will find the Perfetto the right choice instead.

Pros and cons
In favour
- 55 mm hardened-steel burrs, rated for 300 kg of coffee
- Stepless, micrometric adjustment: fine-tune the grind without losing the setting during maintenance
- Two dispensing modes: two programmable doses with continuous, or manual with a timer source
- Silent Technology built to cut noise compared to a conventional grinder source
Worth knowing
- Even with larger burrs, the hopper stays at 300 g: the same stock as the Perfetto, not built for weighing the dose cup by cup
- Larger burrs than the Perfetto with no ground-coffee container included: it dispenses straight into the portafilter source
- The 55 mm burrs stay the same for espresso and filter: switching between the two still means a fresh adjustment

Espresso
Seven grams, twenty-five seconds, twenty-five millilitres: Italian espresso has a written specification, and this is it.
- Dose
- 7 g
Ristretto
The same dose as an espresso, less water in the cup. No institutional source fixes its volume — so here you will only find what is documented.

Cappuccino
25 ml of espresso and 100 ml of steamed milk, in a 150–160 ml cup. The cappuccino has a specification too.

Caffè macchiato
An espresso and a stain of milk. How much milk, exactly? No source declares it — and we do not invent it.
- Dose

Caffè americano
An espresso lengthened with hot water. The amount of water is set by no standard: it changes from country to country and from bar to bar.
- Dose
- 7 g
Caffè shakerato
Double espresso, sugar syrup and ice in a shaker. It has no specification: it has a house recipe.
