The Steam Single is a dual-boiler, single-group machine with a 2.5-liter internal reservoir, which lets you run it without a water-mains connection. The brew tank, PID-controlled, is kept separate from the steam tank so each can hold its own temperature. The group is rated for a million cycles: it suits a cafe as well as a home kitchen.
A dedicated pre-infusion circuit, programmable up to ten seconds, reduces water flow during the initial saturation of the coffee; a record-and-playback function saves up to two brewing recipes, and a three-position actuator shifts water flow rate mid-extraction. A dashboard shows brewing parameters in real time and lets you adjust them on the fly, and a small window lets you watch the coffee saturate.
The steam wand runs on electronic valves, more reliable and free of the periodic rebuilds mechanical valves need. The internal reservoir is built in, with a fixed-plumbing kit available as a separate accessory for anyone who prefers that setup. The pump is a rotary vane unit.
