Rocket Espresso Epica

Epica pairs a fully saturated brewing group with a manual lever for pressure profiling: the barista shapes the pump's ramp up and down by hand during the shot, rather than relying on an electronically preset curve as on more automated models in the same range. The two boilers are stainless steel, with a combined 5.5-litre capacity (1.9 for coffee, 3.6 for the steam/hot-water service), wired for 220-240V (50/60Hz) at 1600W, in a body with a deliberately vintage look.
Temperature control is PID-based, and the manufacturer states both the pressure-profile system and an integrated shot timer, useful for timing extractions without an external stopwatch. Water can be fed from the tank or from a direct plumbed line, depending on how the machine is installed. Dimensions are the largest in Rocket's domestic range: 42 × 50.5 × 64.5 cm, the last measured with the lever in the vertical position, at a weight of 42.4 kg.
Rocket does not disclose the pump type (its own materials only call it a "volumetric pump", a term that does not map cleanly onto any of the standard categories used here), nor portafilter diameter, operating pressure or water tank capacity separate from the two boilers.
