Data from official source

The Dual Boiler is Sage's high-end semi-automatic with a twin-boiler architecture: one boiler dedicated to espresso, one to steam, both in stainless steel, so the machine can extract and texture milk simultaneously at the optimum temperature for each, according to the manufacturer. Electronic PID control keeps water temperature within ±1°C and is programmable, and the 58mm group head is actively heated with an embedded element for thermal stability.

Low pressure pre-infusion is described as programmable, gradually expanding the grounds before full-pressure extraction; extraction then runs at 9 bar via a 15 bar Italian pump. The portafilter is a professional-style 58mm unit, with a dedicated gauge to monitor extraction pressure during the shot. The top-fill water tank holds 2.5 litres, with an integrated filter and backlit level indicator.

The steam wand is a stainless steel 360°-swivel tube with a 3-hole tip, operated by a steam lever: the manual describes milk texturing as a multi-step manual procedure, with no automatic temperature sensor on the wand. The more recent quick guides state a power draw of 1800-2200W on a 220-240V, 50-60Hz supply, but only as a range; the instruction booklet most widely distributed for this model does not include an electrical ratings page at all. The machine's weight is not stated in the documentation reviewed.

Pros and cons

In favour

  • Dedicated dual boiler: espresso and steam are handled simultaneously, each at its own optimum temperature.
  • Programmable PID temperature control, with a declared precision of ±1°C.
  • Dedicated gauge to monitor extraction pressure during the shot.
  • Programmable pre-infusion, to tailor pre-infusion timing and power to the coffee in use.

Worth knowing

  • The steam wand is manual, with no automatic sensors: milk texturing requires the technique described in the manual.
  • The machine's weight is not stated in any of the official documents reviewed. source
  • Power draw is declared only as a range (1800-2200W, 220-240V, 50-60Hz), and only in the more recent guides: the classic instruction booklet has no electrical ratings page. source
